It is, to say the least, something of a challenge taking on, not just one, but two editorial roles at a literary magazine, essays and arts, but here I am with my second issue. It’s also a great honour to be part of something as special as takahē magazine, going for twenty-eight years now. Like its name sake, takahē is a plucky bird that somehow keeps surviving (such is the lot of the small literary publication), and I have tremendous respect for my colleagues who make this possible with their time and commitment. Many writers have found welcome in those pages, including me, when the magazine published some poems of mine what must be nearly a decade ago now. It feels good to be giving back to others, encouraging new talent and voices, and sharing the art of artists I admire. I hope I do a good job.
