Karen Peterson Butterworth Karen Peterson Butterworth lives in Ōtaki, where she studied te reo Māori for seven years including two years at Te Wānanga o Raukawa. She has published five books as writer or editor and her poetry and prose has appeared in journals (including Takahē) and anthologies in seven countries. Her 16 literary competition placings include the 2001 BNZ/Katherine Mansfield Essay Prize and a recent first prize in the NZ Society of Author’s Bay of Plenty Branch’s Memoir and Local History Competition.
Marisa Cappetta Marisa Cappetta won the 2011 Hagley Writers’ Institute Margaret Mahy prize. She has been published in Takahē, The Press, The International Literary Quarterly (UK), Enamel, Shot Glass Journal, Voiceprints 3, Snorkel, Blackmail Press, and the anthology, Crest to Crest.
Mary Cresswell Mary Cresswell is an established poet and science editor. Born in Los Angeles, she moved to New Zealand in 1970. Her poetry has appeared in New Zealand, Australian, Canadian, US and UK literary journals. The manuscript of Trace Fossils (Steele Roberts, 2011) was first runner-up for the inaugural 2008 Kathleen Grattan award (University of Otago), judged by Fleur Adcock.
Cassandra Fusco Cassandra Fusco is co-editor of the arts, cultural studies and reviews for TAKAHĒ and is also the New Zealand contributing editor for three international arts journals: Craft Arts International, World Sculpture News (HK) and Asian Art News (HK).
Susan Kornfeld Susan Kornfeld moved four years ago to Christchurch from Northern California where she was an English teacher. In New Zealand, she has been conducting oral histories, writing fiction and poetry, and blogging all the 1789 poems of American poet Emily Dickinson.
Patricia Prime Patricia Prime, besides being a regular contributor to Takahē, is co-editor of Kokako, reviews editor of Stylus, assistant editor of Haibun Today. Patricia’s primary interest is Japanese short form poetry: haiku, tanka, haibun and tanka prose.
